Tamara Colbert has more than 15 years of experience in public relations and production. After getting a Master’s degree in Business Management, she started her own PR/marketing consulting company, working with Fortune 500, Internet start-ups and non-profit companies providing public relations/media relations services, executive media training, re-branding, new media initiatives, product launches, and serving as a media spokesman. Tamara currently serves as the Texas Director for the Convention of States Project.

 

Tamara has worked in 70 countries around the world as a public relations executive, freelance news and documentary producer. This international experience has provided her with a wider, global perspective in business, news, political and community relations. This platform has led to numerous speaking engagements to women’s groups, as well as non-profit, religious and political organizations and co-hosting a radio show in 2012. 

 

She is the proud mother of a son serving in the United States Air Force and kicks up her boots in the Dallas, Texas area with her husband and two younger children.

 

Special Affiliate Sarah Steelman...

Sarah Steelman is currently an Associate Professor of Economics at Missouri University of Science and Technology.  Prior to that position, Sarah Steelman was a candidate for U.S. Senate in 2012.  In 2009 - 2010 she was a professor at Missouri State University in their Executive in Residence program teaching a political science class in leadership and public policy change.  From 2004 to 2008 Steelman served a four year term as the 44thState Treasurer of Missouri. Steelman elected not to run again for State Treasurer and made an unsuccessful bid for Governor in 2008. Steelman was elected to serve as State Senator in 1998 and re-elected in 2002 from the 16th Senatorial District.


As Missouri Treasurer Steelman was responsible for the management of more than $19 billion in Missouri’s annual revenue and managed the investment of over $3 billion in long- and short-term investments in the state’s portfolio. She started the first terror-free investment fund in the nation that ensured that no taxpayer dollars are invested in terrorist sponsoring countries.  Over 30 other states have followed her lead enacting similar policies.


As treasurer Steelman served as chairman of the state’s Higher Education Savings Board, which administers the Missouri Saving for Tuition, or MOST program and as Chairman of the Missouri Housing Development Commission.  She also served as a member of the Missouri State Employee Retirement System and the Board of Fund Commissioners that oversees issuance of debt instruments by the state. 


As a member of the State Senate, Steelman served as chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce and the Environment. She served as a member of the Senate Committee on Aging, Families, Mental and Public Health; a member of the Senate Committee on Education; and a member of the Senate Committee on Governmental Accountability and Fiscal Oversight. 


Previously, Steelman served as deputy director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources – Division of Geology and Land Survey. She also worked as an economist for the Department of Revenue and as an adjunct professor in economics at Lincoln University. She served as an investment broker and as the director of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program in Rolla, a not-for-profit organization that matches children in need of attention with volunteer mentors.

Steelman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Missouri – Columbia.  She is married to David Steelman and is the mother of three young men – Sam, Joe, and Michael.  



 

Special Affiliate Susan Stimpson...


Susan Stimpson is a wife, mom and former Chairman of the Stafford County Board of Supervisors, elected to the Falmouth District in 2009.  Stafford is the 7th largest county in the state of Virginia.

 She was a candidate for Lt Governor in 2013. 

She and her husband Dan, a retired Marine, have been married for 20 years and have a son and daughter.
